Ruoheng Li: PATHWAY
“Ruoheng Li: Pathway” a solo exhibition, the most comprehensive selective work by artist Ruoheng Li, which embraces the multi-cultural experiences of globalization.

The exhibition takes the viewer along on the artist’s creative journey around the world. Ruoheng has consistently used her work to reflect the social and cultural climates of the countries that she has lived in, through a highly personal visual language.
Classical Chinese Paintings
She began studying painting at an early age and continues her artistic skills at Tsinghua University Academy of Arts & Design in Beijing, China, where she was classically trained under Chinese Realism. She later studied in Moscow and was evoked by the cultural beauty of the country to created the series paintings entitled “Russian Impression - The Sound of the Wind”. This series work reflect the individual moments which inspired feelings and moods of the locations she visited.

Ruoheng Li studies at the Art Center College of Design where she culminates contemporary visual media to combine socialistic realism, Western classicism and modernism to depict new realities of contemporary Chinese society. Those aspects reflect in her series “Childhood for Sale,” addresses the one child policy issues in her childhood. Her international study experience gives her an open view of global politics.

Her awareness of current political surrounding led her to express her political point of view toward the Trump presidency, in her printmaking series “Everything is gonna to be OK”.
Contemporary Print Works and Visual Media
Her travels in Colombia and her knowledge of their colonization history inspired her series “Lost & Emerge”. This series include two prints work named after One Hundred Year Solitude, paying homage of the great writer Gabriel García Márquez.
