Different Art, Same Heart (The art of coming together)

Expressing the positive diversity is the realm of art in the human experience. Pushing the envelope, creating vision, beauty and evolution is a very special fellowship of the creative in all areas of life. These three artists are an example of just that.

Girl Combing Hair - Rudy Cole

Panamanian-American artist Rudy Cole produces charcoal drawings, 3D paper collage, mixed media works, and portraits by commission. Developing a style all his own, Rudy mixes photorealistic charcoal figures and silhouettes with paper collage to create 3D scenes bursting with color and pattern. He has exhibited in numerous galleries and has sold to private collections worldwide. Among many shows, his work has been featured for ArtNight Pasadena, Pasadena Public Library’s Black History Festival, a solo show at the Pasadena Central Lobby in February of 2019, Lanesha Cole Gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, Pasadena Art Walk and was a high contributor for the California Legislative Black Caucus Scholarship Fundraiser in Pebble Beach. He returns to the Walt Girdner Gallery after his previous “Women of Culture” exhibit in April 2018.

Dark Dancer - Patricia Cunliffe

New Mexico native Patricia Cunliffe is an integrated producer of various mediums – best known for her bilingual documentary feature about Latino artists in Los Angeles, A Language of Passion. Patricia production managed the award-winning PBS documentary, Bridging the Divide: Tom Bradley and the Politics of Race and was associate producer of Tom Bradley’s Impossible Dream for LAUSD. Patricia, also an abstract painter has produced & directed art films Rhiannon’s Bridge, Musings and Potters Field, all of which screened together for her 2018 solo exhibition Color, Paper, Vision & Canvas; and are scheduled to screen throughout the evening for ArtNight 2020 at the Pasadena Public Library. Patricia penned an exclusive feature on the legendary filmmaker Kenneth Anger for Amass Magazine and is a frequent contributor to the Pasadena Weekly. Currently, Patricia is part of a three-person art exhibit at Walt Girdner Gallery in Pasadena, Different Art, Same Heart which will be up till mid-April; and is in post-production on her documentary, The Pueblo Revolt. She was a grant recipient for her 2019 ArtNight Pasadena multi-media presentation based on the documentary, Revolt in America 96 Years Before the American Revolution.

Shaken, Not Stirred - Jeff Stridde

Although new to the exhibiting scene, Jeff Stridde has been an artist since birth. Graduating school with top honors as a drummer Jeff initially chose a career as a deep sea diver for Oceaneering International’s Gulf Coast Division before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. Jeff started painting in recent years and much to his own surprise, he has found his work attracting art collectors almost immediately. Unable to paint a tree he found comfort in the strange land of abstract art, and is quite at home attempting to express the in-expressible. Music is still a large part of Jeff Stridde’s life as a member of the eclectic and highly abstract band Saucer X.
